Zoology Museum

The Zoology Museum set up in 1954 has a rich and collection of 2000 animal specimens, eggs, and shells models etc. Rare specimens like Protopterus and birds eggs donated by renowned Ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali are housed here. All the models including fine leathered, wooden and clay models are uniquely arranged

Botany and Food & Nutrition Museum:

The Museum was established in the year 1954 and preserves specimens like Algae, Fungi, Mosses, Ferns, Conifercones and palm fronds. It has a well developed herbarium cabinet with more than 30 Angiosperm families with more than 2 to 3 species.All the models are uniquely designed with extra space of compartments to allow free circulation of air and fumigates and the full height model features a reference shelf for convenient note-taking and specimen viewing.

Zoology Museum

Museum established as a part of curriculum of zoology course in the year 1954 supported by our Institution to enable smooth functioning. The Departmental museum is homed to huge variety of Animal collection and maintains around 2,000 specimens with unique collection..Our museum established based on the practical principle of collection should be put to students use and freely accessible.

In the museum we preserve Zoological specimens of Invertebrates and Vertebrates.

Specimens- A zoological specimen is an animal or part of an animal preserved for scientific use. Various uses are: to verify the identity of a (species), to allow study, increase public knowledge of zoology. Zoological specimens are extremely diverse with Invertebrates and Vertebrates, mounted specimens, skeletal material, casts, pinned insects, dried material, animals preserved in spirit and microscope slides.

The rare specimens like Protopterus and birds eggs donated by famous Ornithologist Salim Ali are present in our Museum

All the models including fine leathered, wooden and clay models are uniquely arranged

Animal models– helps to increase our knowledge of the biodiversity in terms of Wild Life Protection and improve the Practical approach to Identify the Endangered , Rare , Endemic, Vulnerable animal species towards education and research.

The museum aims to hold for the benefit and education of animal sciences and to ensure that the collection is housed in safety, conserved, curated, researched and exhibited.

• Our museum established based on the practical principle of collection should be put to students use and freely accessible.
• In the museum we preserve botanical specimens like Algae, Fungi, Mosses, Ferns, Conifer cones and palm fronds may be stored in labeled boxes.Angiospermic flower or fruits may be pickled in formaldehyde to preserve, protect them from infestation.
• Mosses, Lichens are often air dried and packaged in a small paper envelops
• Specimen sheets are stacked in groups by the species to which they belong and placed into lightest weight holders that is labelled.
• Our museum has a well developed herbarium cabinet with more than 30 Angiosperm families with more than 2 to 3 species.

• NSS students have attended the National Youth day camp at Sundaraiah Vignan Kendram on 12-1-2015 at 11AM on the occasion of Sri Swami Vivekananda Birthday celebrations.
• Swach Bharath was Conducted by the NSS Students in the College premises on 4th February 2015.

• NSS Unit-1 : A Special Camp from 7thNovember, 2013 to 13th November 2013 at RK Nagar slum Thatty annaram Village in Hayath nagar Mandal, RR district.
